Thermal parameters: BL top height / BL depth / BL topvariab / W* / B/S ratio / Convergence   /  Wind parameters  /  sfc parameters  /  clouds parameters
Quick help: Average dry thermal updraft strength near mid-BL height. Subtract glider descent rate to get average vario reading for cloudless thermals. Updraft strengths will be stronger than this forecast if convective clouds are present, since cloud condensation adds buoyancy aloft (i.e. "cloudsuck"). W* mainly depends (it is proportional) upon both the surface heating and the BL depth. The lower chart represents the sum of W* plus the upward/downward air motion due to convergence/divergence. If you see an area with +300 cm/s on the chart, it does not mean that you will meet this upwind everywhere in this area. It does mean that you can meet there a local upwind with an average maximal rate of +300 cm/s (minus the sink rate of your aircraft).
